Carlie Curnow

Carlie Curnow is a contemporary fine artist whose work blends narrative storytelling with a deep passion for wildlife conservation. Holding a degree in Illustration from Kingston University, her early studies in visual communication and creative problem-solving continue to shape her artistic development today.

Alongside her work as a secondary school teacher, Carlie’s versatile career includes executing several prestigious, large-scale commissions. Now focusing fully on her professional practice, she is rediscovering her passion for painting and developing a deeply personal, unique visual style.

Driven by a lifelong love for the natural world, Carlie uses her art to raise awareness for endangered species and critical global issues like deforestation. Her inspiration springs from her travels to some of the wildest places on Earth. These journeys range from the remote jungles of Borneo to the quiet beauty of her local gardens in Kent.

Her artwork explores the texture, colour, and delicate nuances of the animals and birds she depicts. In her latest pieces, Carlie enjoys the tension between traditional realism and the highly graphic, abstract, or expressive backgrounds that surround them—offering a fresh, modern perspective on traditional wildlife art.
