Max Angus

Max Angus SWLA is an acclaimed printmaker, born in Mortlake, London, and now based between rural Kent and the North Norfolk coast.

An elected member and council representative of The Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) since 2013, her award-winning linocuts capture the essence of the British landscape and its wildlife. Her work has been exhibited at prestigious shows including SWLA’s Annual Exhibition, The Natural Eye, the RA Summer Exhibition, and The Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries.

Angus’s meticulous studio process begins with field sketchbooks and copious amounts of scrap paper, where limited pencil details are translated into master lino blocks using a refined, limited colour palette developed over weeks of studio trial and error. “Much of my inspiration is drawn from the Kent countryside and North Norfolk coast and its nature reserves. I love capturing the wild weather, the changing landscape, and the simple pleasure of being outdoors,” notes Max. Her celebrated prints are regularly featured in prominent publications like BBC Wildlife, Artist & Illustrator, Kent Life, and The Birdwatch magazine, as well as Mascot Media's The Artful Hare and Norfolk Gems, and the SWLA’s The Art Book One. Held in numerous private collections, Max’s work has been honoured with The St Cuthbert’s Paper Mill Award, The Birds Illustrated Magazine Printmaking Award, and The Dry Red Press Award.
